The importance of the MUTE buttons on each VCA

When I make a bitimbral sound, I always start with
  • Mono button
  • Init
  • Mute VCA 2
I work the sound with the upper half of the panel. When all is good
  • De mute VCA 2 and Mute VCA 1
I work the second timbre with the lower half of the panel. When all is good
  • De mute VCA 1
I use the panning of each VCA, possibly with slow modulation, to position each timbre. I use the VCA Init to eventually have a timbre in drone mode....
I may delay a gate with the sound options (OPT button) and or loop a digital envelope,
Then, when all is well, I push POLY 4 to test my sound in 4-voice Bitimbral polyphony. And I smile a lot ;)

Hello,

In a situation where we have two different sounds on VCA1 and VCA2, could I mute and unmute the VCAs from the sequencer or arpeggiator? Or could I do it with the individual levels?

Cheers

Good question ... or suggestion  ;)
Today, mute does not work in the sequencer via SEQ 1..3 or the motion sequencer. Via these two tools, by modulating the ENV of the chosen VCA, it works. But the switching isn't very good. I hadn't planned to automate this.

Thank you Laurent!

It would be wonderful to be able to automate the mutes and have an additional option for an x-or behaviour, where a mute on VAC1 results in unmuting VCA2 and the reverse.
cheers

In the meantime, it's possible to sequence or automate VCA MUTE with an external sequencer e.g. Ableton Live.

Since the latest firmware update (1.24) it's now possible to sequence or automate any parameter on the panel that is accessible via NRPNs.

As an experiment, I made a MIDI recording where I made spontaneous and arbitrary changes on the panel such as muting the VCAs while a sequence was running, changing OSC levels or switching filter types. Live played the performance back perfectly.
