Wouldn't it be great? The River in a tabletop format, without a keyboard, Riverkey or the S-key -- but with more knobs, truly single-function-per-knob, small contextual screens under the 8 encoders and the same gorgeous sound+fx in a lighter package. And if it was single-timbral, I would probably buy two :)
This is a study in progress ... but slow now ;)
With 2 different targets in mind: the ones that will use the expander "alone", and the ones that will connect the expander to their The River in order to have 16 voices of polyphony from The River keyboard like DSI/Sequential expanders. :D
I started to think about a rack version. On the functional level, it's almost definite. Technically, it makes a really huge rack. In addition I miss some time right now. After Berlin, I will have a better vision of the means to implement to free me time. There will be no Expander version to talk about, but a cascading mode with two Rivers and / or Racks, for sure.
