The River – Firmware 2.60: new tuning system and Learning

Version 2.60 fixes a few issues and, above all, brings an entirely new tuning system: The River now learns how each voice drifts and builds a model of it. It then corrects this drift as well as possible while you play.

Update all three firmwares (key, card and panel) to version 2.60.

Then start the big new feature: Learning.

• Switch The River on cold, after it has been off for several hours.
• In the TUNE menu, select Learning and confirm.
• The display shows "Learning / Initial tune...", then "Learning / Please wait...". In the bottom left corner, the "LEARN xx'" indicator shows the elapsed time.
• Let the instrument warm up. Every 2 minutes it takes a few measurements (you will hear short notes).
• The procedure usually takes 1 h to 1 h 30, 4 h at most. It stops by itself once the temperature is stable.
• At the end, the display shows "Learning success". You're done, you won't need to do it again.

During Learning, don't touch anything ;) If you really have to stop it, select Learning again in the TUNE menu ("STOP LEARNING"). You will have to start over later.

If the display shows "Learning failed / Start it cold", the instrument was already too warm at the start. Try again the next day, from cold.

From now on, for everyday use, it's Fast Tune in the TUNE menu, or better, the keyboard shortcut (Wheel Shift + the third B key on the keyboard). You can use it as often as needed.

In a few weeks, if you feel your instrument is less in tune, I recommend running a new Learning.

Autotune All is no longer needed, but it does no harm.

Reset Autotune is unnecessary: Learning always starts from scratch.

The River – Firmware 2.60 : nouveau système d'accord et Learning

Cette version 2.60 corrige quelques dysfonctionnements et apporte surtout un système d'accord entièrement nouveau : The River apprend maintenant comment chaque voix dérive et en construit un modèle. Il corrige ensuite au mieux cette dérive pendant que vous jouez.

Mettez à jour les trois firmwares (key, card et panel) en version 2.60.

Lancez ensuite la grande nouveauté : le Learning.

• Allumez The River à froid, après plusieurs heures éteint.
• Dans le menu TUNE, choisissez Learning et confirmez.
• L'écran affiche « Learning / Initial tune... », puis « Learning / Please wait... ». En bas à gauche, le témoin « LEARN xx' » indique le temps écoulé.
• Laissez l'instrument chauffer. Toutes les 2 minutes, il prend quelques mesures (vous entendrez de courtes notes).
• La procédure dure en général entre 1 h et 1 h 30, 4 h au maximum. Elle s'arrête d'elle-même quand la température est stable.
• À la fin, l'écran affiche « Learning success ». C'est terminé, vous n'aurez plus à le refaire.

Pendant le Learning, ne touchez à rien ;) Si vous devez vraiment l'interrompre, choisissez à nouveau Learning dans le menu TUNE (« STOP LEARNING »). Il faudra tout recommencer plus tard.

Si l'écran affiche « Learning failed / Start it cold », l'instrument était déjà trop chaud au départ. Recommencez le lendemain, à froid.

Au quotidien, utilisez désormais le Fast Tune du menu TUNE, ou mieux, son raccourci clavier (Shift Molette + 3ᵉ touche Si du clavier). Vous pouvez le faire aussi souvent que nécessaire.

Dans quelques semaines, si vous trouvez votre instrument moins juste, je vous recommande de refaire un Learning.

L'Autotune All n'est plus nécessaire, mais il ne fait pas de mal.

Le Reset Autotune est inutile : le Learning repart toujours de zéro.

J'attends avec impatience vos retours et vos expériences. Sur mon River, le gain est plus que significatif, j'espère qu'il en sera de même sur le vôtre.
