There was an issue with an older version of The Riverkey firmware. Has The Riverkey also been updated? You can check the firmware version on The Riverkey's display.

https://forum.baloran.com/index.php?topic=716.0

If the problem only affects a group of adjacent notes, check that the edge of the front panel is not preventing the keys from returning properly, and make sure the keys do not make a clicking or snapping noise when released quickly. It may also be useful to loosen the keyboard mounting screws slightly for testing, as the keyboard frame may have been twisted during transport. Otherwise, the keyboard assembly may need to be replaced. If the problem affects the entire keyboard, further tests are required. Disconnect all connected pedals, computers, and CV/Gate cables, then try using an external MIDI keyboard, and so on, in order to identify the source of the problem.

Logiciels/MAJ/Softwares/Updates / Version 2.19
Last post by Baloran - June 30, 2026, 11:58:33 PM
Hi

https://baloran.com/TheRiver/TheRiverUpdater_MAC_219.zip
et dezippez ce fichier sur votre bureau. Lancez l'application TheRiverUpdater.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Version 2.19 is online. After the update, in Global Setup of The Riverkey, the version displayed should be "v 2.19>>"

For Mac users, the usual update tools may cause compatibility issues. Download the following ZIP file: https://baloran.com/TheRiver/TheRiverUpdater_MAC_219.zip
Unzip the file onto your Desktop, then launch the TheRiverUpdater application. Click the "Download" button. Version 2.19 should then appear in the list. Carefully follow the instructions displayed by the application. When you click Step 1, no update window will appear immediately; you will only see a spinning wait cursor. Please wait for a few dozen seconds, and the update window will then appear.

Discussion (English preferably) / Frozen / stuck notes
Last post by morganf - June 30, 2026, 03:46:02 AM
Recently my River (with latest firmware ver. 2.19) is occasionally having a "frozen note" - one note continues to play even after it has been released. It is a random occurrence - not always the same note. The only way to stop the frozen note is to play it again.

Has anyone had this problem and found a way to fix it?

Thanks for any advice!

Been busy, forgot to report back. I tried to have the B3 send CCs to the LXR-02 to update settings realtime while playing rhythms. Lets just say the LXR does not like large amounts of incoming CCs at the same time. I had some very creative errors resulting in destroyed patches most of the time. My conclusion is that the LXR is running at the limit of what the CPU can handle, I should not push it. So it goes :-)

Another détail/experience

Some USB-C cables designed to carry high current have a wider connector housing, over 10.5 mm. The two screws holding the USB-C connector on The 3FX may prevent the plug from being fully inserted, resulting in poor contact and preventing The 3FX from being properly detected.

Let us check everything step by step.

First, could you please tell me which Mac model you are using and which version of macOS is installed?

Please check the following points:

  • Is the remote controller connected to The 3FX using the supplied white cable, plugged into the USB 5V port on The 3FX?
  • Is the connection between your Mac and The 3FX made using the supplied cable or another cable?
  • Is this cable correctly connected to the USB-C port on The 3FX?
  • Please test all the USB ports on your Mac, preferably using a USB 2 connection if available.
  • Try both a direct connection between the Mac and The 3FX and a connection through a USB hub.
  • Please also try another USB-C cable that supports data transfer. Some USB-C cables are designed for power only.

----  First test: reset

There is a small hole on the rear panel of The 3FX that provides access to the reset button.

  • With The 3FX powered on, carefully insert a suitable small tool into the hole, then press and hold the button for approximately 15 seconds.
  • Release the button and allow The 3FX to restart completely.
  • Then check whether your Mac detects The 3FX.

If The 3FX is still not detected, we will check the internal USB connection.

----  Checking the internal USB connection

  • Switch off and unplug The 3FX before opening it.
  • Using a 2 mm hex screwdriver, remove the two screws from the front panel, the two screws from the rear panel, and the screws located on the sides.
  • Then carefully remove the top cover.
  • Check the cable connection between the USB-C socket on the rear panel of The 3FX and the small CPU board.
  • You can send me a photo of this connection so that I can check it.
  • Reconnect and power on The 3FX, then check whether your Mac detects it.

If it is still not detected:

  • Switch off and unplug The 3FX again.
  • Disconnect the cable coming from the rear USB-C socket from the small CPU board.
  • Connect the USB-C cable from your Mac directly to the small CPU board.
  • Use the socket on the right-hand side, towards the centre of the enclosure.
  • Power on The 3FX and check whether your Mac detects it.

Please let me know the result of each step.

This will help us determine whether the issue comes from the USB cable, the rear USB-C socket, or the CPU board.

I seem to be having this issue with my 3FX when connected to my Macs, I sent you an email Laurent.  I have tried two different macs, multiple cables, and connected with USB hubs in between the 3FX and the Mac.  Unfortunately, seems like the app won't recognize my 3FX at all.  I have the touchscreen, so am able to use it in the meantime but obviously would like to get the Mac app working so I can program macros.

Ah yes, that's fantastic thanks. I will enjoy translating your code. Personally I am happy with a tasty bit of imprecision, but I might sometimes want to enter a value in msecs as a starting point. But certainly I'll mostly be using my ears/the tiny tongues inside them/tweaking according to taste  :P

Also very pleased to hear you'll be making the sources available to those who are willing. For me I am actually very fond of Pure Data as a platform, it, rather than a DAW, forms the core of the way I like to play around, and so your excellent MIDI implementation I think is all I really need. (Though the information about the conversion is very nice to have).

Merci beaucoup!

Regarding Linux, all software is developed using the cross-platform JUCE 8 framework.
Compiling for Linux is technically possible, but honestly, I can't see myself adding yet another development platform on top of everything else — Windows and Mac already keep me plenty busy ;)
That said, my sources will be available for anyone willing to dive into that adventure ;)
